Description:
Wisps of cloud hover above the crosses at Nuestra Seora del Espritu Santo de Ziga Mission in Goliad Texas. The mission was the center of Franciscan outreach to the native tribes in the area and became the birthplace of cattle ranching in Texas.
Espirito Santo mission was built while Texas was Spanish territory.
About Joshua:
Joshua House has been described as a photographer, a conservationist, a historian, and an adventurer.
Having traveled and worked extensively across the country he is currently concentrating his photographic work in Eastern Texas, centered on Houston.
His past creative work has included research, writing, and photography for the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Illinois, Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska, and Dinosaur National Monument in Utah and Colorado.
As a conservationist he has worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the National Park Service.
His historical work has had several focuses, from Abraham Lincoln’s life in Springfield Illinois, to the history of homesteading across the American West, to local historical sites here in the Southern Tier. He is also currently doing research for an upcoming project surrounding World War One memorials and what they tell us about the United States during the 1920s and 1930s.
His adventures have taken him from the rim of the Grand Canyon at sunrise to the shores of Keuka Lake at sunset and from the roof of the Adirondacks to the back streets of Memphis Tennessee.
